This 2023-2024 football season is a new season of young players. High expectations are drilled into this team with total confidence and commitment to make things happen. This young team says, don’t underestimate their strength and drive on the field. Their standing is 0-4 but this team is dedicated to flipping the score and come out on top of the league.
Casey Quinn, Head coach at Ridgeview High School, has coached this football team for three years and is always looking for ways to improve and compete on the field no matter what group of players come into play. This year’s team is full of characteristics that’ll help the team show out. Quinn says, “Our kids are coming in with good character and we’re developing good character, as far as character they are doing a really good job in the classroom. I don’t really see a lot of student athletes late to class, so they are doing a good job of following directions and if they are struggling, they are definitely coachable. Our kids are great.” New outside the field, these athletes are also on top of their classwork to stay eligible for the season and academically overall, Quinn recognizes them not just as players but as students as well. What makes these athletes stand out is what they bring to the table, how their drive impacts them as a team but as well as an individual. Quinn states, “The people that stand out are the people that are willing to be eager. They are coachable and aren’t afraid to fail to be successful. We have a lot of kids that stand out, I can’t name just one of them.” Work ethic is what can bring this team together and carry onto where they want to be to beat the toughest schools this season.
Jacob Ayala, Tight End, sets high standards for himself as an individual for him to play at the next level to compete in the game of football. “My goals are to get over 100 tackles this season and to get over 500 receiving yards as well as getting a ring” Ayala mentions. Hard work and determination is set to Ayala’s mindset going forward with his last year with the Pack, so all this effort is driven to go far this season. Playing smart and staying focused can get this team where they want to but in order for this to come true, it is essential for these players to come with 100% each time they step onto the field. Ayala standards connect with both his coaches and type of dedication and goals, that can drive them into their wants of winning the league. What makes this team special is the courage and commitment all of these young players bring out to practice and games that show how willing they are to compete.
Angel Corona, Wide Receiver, gives feedback behind the scenes of work put in and the future objective for this season. “We have a tough schedule and Thursday night gave us some tough challenges, but the returning seniors and coaches are doing a great job leading the team.” Although there are some heavy challenges coming to towards the start of the season, this young team is prepared to take them down and the coaches are doing a great job of holding it down. Corona also mentions, “The coaches leading helped tackle the adversity and I look forward to what this year has to come.” Coaches make a big impact on gameplay when it comes to the game of football, and it shows how much dedication they put into the team to succeed in areas that’s needed to win tough games.
Ridgeview football encourages teamwork, discipline, and fitness to keep these players in shape. Student athletes push themselves at a higher level in order to compete against teams and have their work pay off to carry them on farther into the season. Each year coaches learn from what they did before and work on the things they can do now to help them improve what held them back last year. Overall, this team’s work ethic will show and improve on the field which will get them great results for into a strong season.
