Ridgeview goes around the world at this year’s Dance Revue. The 13th annual Ridgeview Dance Revue took the stage on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of February. With this year’s theme being Around the World to explore the different cultures and states using dance and music.
Dance Revue has been a standout event at Ridgeview but unfortunately stopped after COVID-19. However Kelci Cerri, Ridgeviews drama teacher, was able to bring back the tradition last year. And is now bringing it back for its thirteenth year explaining, “It gets the students really pumped up and excited and it’s all about them having a good time.”
Returning senior Kameron Manasan talks about what drew her to audition for Dance Revue, “Last year I wanted to try something new and someone told me to try it out.” And for the overall audition process this year Mansan describes the biggest difference between the years as, “This year there are younger people doing Dance Revue.” Bringing in the new classes at Ridgeview High to the big stage.
This year’s Dance Revue was big on expressing the different cultures not only around the world, but the ones here at school. Erykah Johnson, a junior and returner to Dance Revue describes this year’s Dance Revue as “diverse” as, “we are a very diverse group of performers,” connecting to the overall theme of Around the World. Cerri adds on by saying, “They’ll be able to connect more to the dances because there are so many cultures performing.” Other additions to this year’s Dance Revue include the special guest appearances and more dance and musical performances than last year.
Dance Revue is a tradition that’s been important to Ridgeview’s theater department for the last couple of years with Cerri explaining, “Dance is a universal language so kids are able to express what they’re feeling through dance, and anyone can dance so it is a way to get everyone together and involved.” Don’t be shy and come out and watch friends and students perform at this years Dance Revue.
