It is a conspiracy by the wealthy franchise owners to ensure that player wages are limited and that they get to keep the bulk of the profits generated by the team. But I think no team should have a financial advantage in signing players. Having salary caps gives a wage spending bill that not only exceeds other teams, but can cause teams to lose draft picks as well. I believe salary caps in Pro Sports cause franchises like the NFL, NBA, or the NHL to lose out on young talent and here is why.
The idea of salary caps might not seem like a big deal. But from my point of view it has a huge impact on organizations in the sports industry, essentially being a big deal. These caps usually come with a contract as well and if the player is willing to sign that contract they are also willing to accept their cut. Unfortunately I think what happens is players get tired of the amount of money they get and go to a team that will either pay them more or provide more for them in their contracts, which seems like the smartest choice in this case. As the salary lessens after each draft so do the teams and complicate team management strategies as such measure stifler’s players.
League rules do not allow franchises to pay more money even if they want to, but the essential problem here is that the salary caps are related to last year’s financial performance. Now although the salary caps were created to limit financial risks, if you ask me having these caps in pro sports makes college or high school athletes have doubts since they could be the best player but non-affordable to the league. Yes, having a financial limit can create a fair playing field for the teams and from a fan’s standpoint, but what about the talent and hard work young men and women put in for their sport just to not get picked due to the caps.
