This year’s 2024 water polo team is working extremely hard. They are thriving towards success with intense conditioning measures at Ridgeview High School.
Boys’ varsity water polo player Amari Amey holds the position of playing hole set in the game. This season so far Amey states he scores a total of, “15 goals”. This exhibits coach Colby Webbs strategies in which result in better organization for the team to extract any passes in the water that weren’t caught to drive that ball to the goal. This is also demonstrated when Amey says, “This season I’ve scored 15 goals…10 assists… I also made 4-5 steals ”. This conveys that exercises coach Webb provides players act as a scenario players might be in while in the water serving benefits for the boys’ water polo team.
Kylie Torres who plays on the girls’ water polo team holds the position of playing goalkeeper. According to Torres,”Depending on which team it is, but about five or six goals per game”. This exhibits that the discipline and the organization that coach Webb applies to the team leads to goals against the opponents. Additionally Torres states,”I stay in the water the whole game”. This conveys that the conditioning Webb provides for the girls’ water polo team allows them to have the stamina to endure the physical exercise.
Ridgeview High School water polo coach Webb has a great passion for driving his team towards success in the team’s stats and scores. Coach Webb states, “I try to coach kids to be in positions that help them succeed, to be able to practice what they might see in a game so that they would potentially make good decisions while they’re actually playing.” Webb describes a coaching strategy in which he utilizes to have players exceed techniques in scenarios that will improve their performance in the game against opponents. Webb also states he drives the water polo team to success through, “discipline, ball control, and speed. So, when we go against teams that are faster than us, it’s difficult to compete. When we lose our discipline, our defense falls apart and our offense can’t get anything done. And ball control, when we can’t catch passes, we leave a lot of opportunities on the field.”. Webb demonstrates a scenario in which the factors he drives the water polo team on were executed. Therefore these elements convey a positive result due to ball speed, control and discipline.
Both the girls’ and boys’ water polo teams are driven to success by coach Webb’s conditioning strategies. This allows the team to strive for more learning opportunities not only in practice but in the game for the best results they can receive.
