Since the 2024-2025 school year has started, the Wi-Fi at Ridgeview has not necessarily been up to par. But this wasn’t an issue just this year. This issue had also partaken towards the end of the 2023-2024 school year. It has been decided at Ridgeview to take away our better and faster Wi-Fi network, Onboarding. I do think that may have not been the best choice for the school because Onboarding was what worked the best for all students and staff. But now, more than ever, we struggle with the issue of the Wi-Fi going out or not allowing us to get online to begin with.
Us students and staff struggle a lot more now to get our work done or assignments posted and all of this because of the certain Wi-Fi that we can no longer access, or the Wi-Fi in general. This is an issue because when the Wi-Fi decides to not work, the students later on have to do the work on our free time instead of in class, but at times we could possibly forget and therefore the work gets turned in late or never turned in. This affects us as students because it puts us more behind on our work than some of us already are. Even more if they don’t have the prop
er technology at home to continue or start their work.
Some students don’t have Wi-Fi at home or a technology device to get their work started or finished, so it’s important to have a good and stable Wi-Fi at school because those that can’t at home can at school. That is what school is for, to come and learn. To get work completed, but lately it’s been hard and getting harder to even log onto our school accounts. Majority of teachers decide to post online work instead of giving out paper work, but obviously at times we struggle by not being able to access our account.
I personally think that taking away Onboarding or minimizing our Wi-Fi usage is creating more negative effects rather than positive effects. We need stable Wi-Fi at all times, if not necessarily at all times then majority of the time because with the Wi-Fi constantly going out hurts us and our education in the long run.
