For this edition’s food review, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. Once again trending on multiple social media platforms, K-pop-inspired treats like Korean corn dogs, teas and lemonades filled with boba, and mochi donuts were on this edition’s menu. While I was nervous and intrigued to see what they had to offer, the restaurant I visited goes by the name Mochido and is located on Coffee Road. It’s small inside but decorated with flower walls and LED light signs hanging up, as well as many TVs for entertainment. My overall first impression of the place was good, and I was excited to try their food next.
On their menu, there is a lot to look at, and being new to it all, I wasn’t sure what to order at first. I knew I wanted to get both a drink and a food item, so after some debating, I decided on a brown sugar espresso with oat milk and boba and a Korean corn dog with both meat and cheese on the inside, covered with crispy potatoes and hot Cheeto dust on the outside. The brown sugar espresso was very good if you like the taste of coffee. Since it is an espresso, it is on the stronger side and has a very distinct coffee taste, but the brown sugar mixed very well with the shot of espresso, and the added boba finished the drink off. The boba there is optional in every drink if that’s not your thing, but I would recommend trying it if you haven’t yet. If coffee isn’t for you, they also have milk teas, matcha, fruit teas, and their specialty drinks. With so many options, I will definitely be going back to order something different.
The Korean corn dog has been something I have been seeing for a while now; whether I’m scrolling on TikTok or Instagram, it’s obvious that many people have gone out of their way to get their hands on these. Same as with the drinks, you can customize the corn dog to your liking. For example, you can choose both cheese and meat on the inside or simply just one of those options. As far as the outside goes, you can choose potato, hot Cheetos, ramen, blue Takis, or fruity pebbles, and you can mix multiple toppings. I decided to go with a potato and Hot Cheeto one filled with meat and cheese. The potato was perfectly crisped, and the Cheeto dust added something fun. It was super easy to eat, but I can say it was very messy, so make sure to keep napkins on hand. The corn dog was good, and I would definitely go again just for that.
Overall, I would give this food review a thumbs up. I enjoyed not just the food but the setting as well. The employees were nice, and the restaurant was clean, so there were no complaints there. As for the prices, I paid 18 dollars for the two items, which I didn’t think was too bad, considering that the food and my experience there were good. I suggest this place if you’re looking for something new to try with friends or family; there are many great options that I’m sure everyone can enjoy.
