The Ridgeview High School track team is sprinting into the new season with renewed energy and high expectations, determined to leave their mark on this season! The season has started, and track seems to be dedicating themselves to this, as all of the different students in their respective sport try their best to be as fast as they can, breaking past their limits, jump as high as their body takes them, and throw as far as they can so they can come back home to Ridgeview with a sense of accomplishment! They are currently being led by Coach Chris Arguello and a variety of other coaches, who all are working together to make sure that victory is inevitable!
All the different sections and teams in track seem to be motivated and having fun, somewhat surprisingly, as a majority of the players said that it mattered about the perspective they looked at track from, and that however much fun you had was determined if you were negative or positive. “It just depends on how you view it… It depends on the person,” said Akasia Jackson.
Arguello also is trying his very best to coach them, along with many other coaches, around six, to be specific. He also is making sure that the athletes don’t beat themselves up that much, as we can’t always win, but that doesn’t mean we can’t use that bump in the road to learn! “You did what you can, given the circumstances, don’t beat yourself up about it. You finished the race, it’s what you’re here to do,” he added.
It also seems that the track team has something that is an amazing quality to have, for some more than others. They want to improve! When asked, the athletes mostly said that they had at least one weakness, and had a way that they could improve, or at least work on themselves in track. They had strengths they had said as well, but they didn’t exactly focus and beat themselves up but acknowledged their weaknesses, and knew that they needed to improve, if they wanted to be the best. “I always want to keep doing better, and I keep pushing myself to do better, no matter how low we go… whatever happens, I’m still trying to work harder to become better,” said Jameson Powell.
Even through what seems like an impossible trial, or maybe even just an extremely hard one, the track team won’t give up so quickly, or easily! Ridgeview’s track athletes are ready to prove that all their hard work and their constant perseverance can turn hopes and dreams into achievements and reality. The track team is showing that they’re filled with determination, and that they’re ready for anything that this season can throw at them. It’ll be a little harder than usual to knock them off their game!
