We, the people, enjoy it when we have options. For the past two years now, at food-sale day, and food-truck day I’ve noticed the same options appearing more than once. This might be egregious. I think, as an opinionated American citizen, imbued with unalienable rights? New options might be pretty cool. I think we should open ourselves up to new opportunities at these food-sales days.
We can still have some of the same old options, and I think it’d be perfectly fine to stick with what we’re used to. A Mexican food-truck is a no-brainer after all, but sometimes a food-sale day is that much better, because I tried something I’ve never eaten before. I am giving a personal anecdote, but after weighing 30 minutes for a burrito that I knew was going to be good, getting out of line to try food from a Chinese place I’ve never heard of before felt special. You are only in highschool for four years, and food-sale day only comes around a handful of days, out of that school year. Not just that, food-truck day happens even less often. Out of my three years at Ridgeview I’ve only experienced it twice.
When something is so rare, and so unique I think we should take the opportunity to amplify the new experiences that could be had. New food-trucks, new cultures, and a new menu, should be on our menu as a school. It’s easy to do what’s been done before, what we’ve been doing for years. It’s easy to repeat, but I think it’s always better to adapt, and change. It’s all a long winded way of saying I want more options at food-sale day but for me it’s the truth. We’ve all had canes. We are used to Jamba Juice and we know Panda Express is going to be there. We know that same pink ice-cream truck from last year isn’t going anywhere. My personal go-to is Panda Express, but I can get Panda Express almost at any time outside of school. I can always go to canes if I wanted to, or buy overpriced Jamba Juice. However, if we were to bring in new vendors, new foods, new menus and new experiences It’ll expose us to something unique and new, it’ll be something to talk about and something to remember. We could say that I tried new food today, and whether it was good, or bad, at least it wasn’t the same old thing. Again, this is a long winded way of saying, I think more options at our food-sale and food-truck days would be neat.
