With the 2024 school year coming to a close athletes all over have to decide where they are signing to . This year Ridgeview had four students from three different sports. Jacob Ayala who committed to Simpson University to continue playing football with a major in Technology Engineering. Ezekiel Thomas made his decision to attend Chapman University to continue running track and field as well as major in Video and Film Production. Jovarie Hayden has decided to run track and field for Fresno Pacific while majoring in Kinesiology. Finally Adam Salazar committed to Cal State Bakersfield to continue playing baseball as well as major in Kinesiology.
Ayala feels indebted to Ridgeview for its staff here and the support given to Ayala throughout his time here. “ Ridgeviews is an amazing school, everybody here has treated me so well, without Ridgeview I don’t think I would have been going to a university at all, everybody here pushed me, teachers, coaches, I highly appreciate Ridgeview,” states Ayala. His greatest inspiration to play this sport came from his family members who all grew up playing football as well.
Thomas felt inspired to join track and field in the first place from his father who also ran track and field in high school. Thomas has loved the sport since he first joined when coming into high school and has continued doing it ever since. “ I decided to go to this college because, one it has one of my majors and that is video and film production, one of my other passions and, also two they have a good program, good school, the environment, good people there, so you know it’s a good facility and a good environment it’s not away from home, it always good to travel there, good community an you know overall I plan to be somewhere where I can also go home meet my family and be close to them as well,” claims Thomas.
Hayden joined track and field in the first place mainly because he knew he was fast and wanted to keep active after basketball came to an end. He credits Coach Tre Hobson for any inspiration he had to join the sport and for convincing him to come out and try track. Hayden is eager to begin the process of training all over again and to embark on this new challenge. “ I’m most excited about getting enrolled and finding out my classes and getting straight back to work as soon as my highs chool track season is over transitioning into my freshman year of college and getting in the weight room and you know having more attention from my coaches because you know it’s like sixty kids out there for track and you got like one coach that’s really invested so you know changing from high school, the process of changing from high school to college and just getting right back to work that’s what i’m most excited for,” says Hayden
Salazar stated that he picked CSUB because, “I decided to go to this college because it’s local at home and it was the best offer I got on a divisional level”. He felt inspired to join this sport in the first place from his father and is looking most forward to having all the work he’s put in these past years to finally pay off in college.
