This 2025-2026 school year the district decided to allow students to get into their schools sports games for free as long as they go to that school. This has caused more students to attend games and get involved in the school’s spirit. Here’s how students and teachers here at Ridgeview feel about this new thing.
Deb Whitbey is the Activities Director at Ridgeview High School, and talks about the free admission into sports games. “I really like it, it encourages students to come to their home games and root their school team on”, says Whitbey. Whitbey adds that it is really important to have school spirit at our home games, and it’s really important to get students into the game for free. This free admission shouldn’t go for families too because the money that families pay goes to help run the athletic events. Whitbey says, “ If students get into games for free, then they will go to the student store, and that money goes back to ASB”. By doing this, 750 students have shown up to our football games. Whiteby talks about how the district changed it to free admission for students because there was a goal issue in the district with attendance, school morale, school spirit, and coming together as a school. Whitbey talks about how the district only plans to keep this system for this school year but the next upcoming school year it will go back to students paying to enter into games.
Chloe Taylor is a student here at Ridgeview High School. Taylor really likes the new system where students can get into games for free if you go to the school. “It’s a better advantage for students to go to games for free now”. She says she would prefer the ASB sticker where you can get into any school game for free instead of only the school you are attending. Taylor says she would still pay to get into the games if it wasn’t free because the price isn’t a problem. “Yeah I would, it’s not that expensive”. She is okay with it only being for our school because every school in the district is doing the exact same thing as our school.
Aline Chavez is a student here at Ridgeview High School. Chavez likes the new system that allows students to get into games for free. The one thing Chavez doesn’t like about this is that it’s only for our school that she has to pay when she goes to another school. Chavez prefers to have the ASB stickers over this new thing system. “I like ASB stickers cause you can enter all the games from different schools for free”, says Chavez. She has never skipped a game because of the price because she always had her ASB sticker. “ I will start being there 24/7 to all the games with school spirit,” says Chavez. She will be participating more in the school spirit and getting more involved with school events.
