For the first time, the senior class of 2024 gets to experience something new, Senior Paint and Pizza Night. This new event was hosted on March 14th from 5 to 6:30 pm. Seniors who attended the event were provided with canvases, paints, music, and pizza. Senior pizza and paint night will be in the cafeteria with no entry fee.
Senior class advisor Phillip Collingon and the senior class came together to create this fun event. The event cost around 100 dollars so, to make this event come to reality, the senior class has been fundraising for it. The senior class hopes to add this tradition to all the other senior events. Whitbey says, “ They’re going to start graduation soon so seniors wanted to start having more activities for seniors.”
Senior Pizza and Paint Night aims to unite students and give them more memories for their last year at Ridgeview High School. Danielle Johnson says, “All the seniors will be together, so we can all just enjoy each other’s company. We’re going to have food, vibes, and going to get to paint and all that, so I think the vibes and the scenery will be enjoyable for everyone.”
Art teacher Robin Dyer has organized a tutorial for the seniors on how to paint a disco ball. Dyer explains that it is going to be a follow-along paint night and can assist students as needed. All necessary supplies will be provided and set up for seniors entering the cafeteria. Although the tutorial is similar to a Paint Night where each student paints the same picture, Dyer encourages the seniors to express individuality and uniqueness in their paintings. Dyer says, “Art is fun to do and very low pressure. It’s a share of experience and it is fun to see when everyone has the same objective but the results will turn out differently.” Each senior is free to take their painting home and keep it for memories.
Not only was there painting but there was also free food provided to the seniors. Senior class advisor Phillip Collignon explains that pepperoni and cheese pizza was served to students. In addition to pizza, there were beverages provided like Sprite.
For the most part, most seniors who attended had positive feedback. One of the seniors that attended Joie Parnell says, “ Paint night was really fun and if they did it again I think they should promote it more so more people could go, I didn’t feel like there were a lot of people there.” Although most seniors enjoyed this paint night, few attended. With positive feedback from seniors who attended, it’s a hope that upcoming seniors decide to go during the next school year.
Not only was this event fun for seniors and allowed them to create more memories with their friends, but it also benefited the school. When the paint night ended, art teacher Robin Dyer was able to keep the brushes for her classes. It brought seniors together for their final year and served as a stress reliever.
